Plot / Synopsis

The astonishing attempt by two Bavarian climbers to be the first to conquer the north face of the Eiger seemingly equipped with little more than 
home-made pitons and any old rope is the subject of director Philipp Stoltz’s superlative drama. The 1936 assault on the 1,800m wall of stone and 
ice was seen by a propaganda-obsessed Nazi Germany as a potentially Olympic gold-winning bid to solve “the last problem of the Western Alps”.
